    Churns used to be made in this district until very recently. The last person who plied the trade was a man named Farrel, better known as "The Cooper". He also made barrels when called upon, but not so cheaply as the shop keepers could dispose of paraffin oil barrels. The trade was apparently a hereditary one.
    There is no weaver nearer to town than three miles at present. A man named Loftus carries it on in Kenaffe on the Swinford road. Of course the only thing he weaves is blankets. He also frequently to supply "spraining threads"
