    Some fifty years ago a man named Thomas Griffith rented a house and farm of land in the western end of the townland of Carricknahorna.

    and one morning they got up the hay was in the other side of the lane just as it stood before and not one straw scattered nor left on the hedge in crossing over. There never was anything done to harm them at anytime. To the north west of the house there is a lake and a small island on it belonging to the farm and one evening the man went to the island to cut grass for the cows and when he had it filled into a creel [?] a man was approaching him seemingly to hoist it on him but the man was overcome with fright and was not able to wait to have it lifted up on him, it was the only time ever he was frightened.
