  1. There are not many places around this district noted for having gold are other treasures hidden in them. The only place in particular mentioned is the old castle situated near Greencastle. There is supposed to be a treasure of gold hidden there. There is also another place called Port Blaney along the shore between Greencastle and Shroove. The monks lived there a very long time ago. Some of them are buried there and in this very old graveyard in this place there is supposed to be treasure buried. It may not be gold but some other valuables. It has never been known that any person sought for this treasure.
