  1. Setting eggs for Hatching
    Thirteen or fifteen is the usual number of eggs put under a hen.Eleven is considered an unlucky number.Friday is considered a lucky day for sitting a hen or goose.
    The eggs are usually marked when sitting them a cross is made on each egg with ink or purple pencil.The reason why eggs are so marked so that if a henrys in the box the fresh egg will be known. The sign of the crosses put on goose-eggs before hatchingWhile the goose is laying her eggs are placed in oats or bran.
