    eighteen years ago and the owner went to live with his daughter in Baratorra and he died some years ago.
    The owners of the others, the MacGoverys, the MacCaffreys and the Reddons, the Maddons suffered great hardship during the famine years.
    Most of them died and the others left their homes and went to new farms in the North.
    Michael Daly went to Lagoo about the same time.
    The houses they left fell into ruins and their land was divided among the neighbours.
    My home is situated on the west side of the road from Loughrea to Scariff and on the other side of the road is Wasteland school.
    The school was built in 1845 by the Irish Wasteland Co. This was a Scoth Company who built my house and my uncle's house and two other houses. The steward Mr Lerman and two other men named Harte and Noonan lived at my uncle's house while the company was working
