  1. Lurganboy is not a great potato growing district. The amount each man
    sets for himself seldom varies. If the ground has not been dug before, the manure is spread out in straight lines, the potatoes are all split in two and put on the manure and two sods are turned over on them (and) thus forming a ridge. If the ground has been dug drills are made, the manure is put between the drills and the potatoes are put on the manure, then the earth is turned over them. When people are preparing potatoes for seed an important thing is that each potato must have an eye. The local people often help one another. In summer the potatoes are sprayed so
