  1. People should not beat a donkey with an elder stick because Our Lord was crucified on a cross made of elder.
    The dog-briar is supposed not to be sacred because the crown of thorns which was placed on Our Lords head was made from it.
    The elder or the blackthorn should not be brought into the house because they are not blessed.
    The poplar tree is supposed not to be sacred because it did not bow down when Our Lord was passing and its leaves are always shivering with fear.
