- When Patt Quinn of Rossy, who is now about 60 years old, was a little boy he was out in the field one evening at the back of the hill. He saw a very small little man with a red cap on his head, and he had the face of an old man. A day or so after, he got sick, and was bad for a good while.

- I often heard it said that the night of the "Big Wind" the fish were blown out of Lough Sur up on Gowley strand, and even up on the hill at the back of John Flynns of Gowly.
