Just then the light got larger, and as it advanced it became round in shape. We were in no way frightened by it, but we guessed it was something queer. At last it was about 4 or 5 perch from us, and then it was as big as a very big football. We stopped and looked at it. It came nearer, and got still larger. It was coming towards us now very slowly. At last it stopped near enough to us to put our hands on it. We looked closely at it, and I saw the most beautiful scenery I ever saw, and in the midst of it all I saw the dead woman from whose wake I was coming. Tom saw the same as I did.
