  1. Local Songs (continued)

    Lough Rynn's wooded shore.

    (continued from previous page)
    VI
The gentle breeze did cease to blow
The band did cease to play
The brightness of that day soon changed
    To darkness and dismay
The little birdies in the grove
You will hear their song no more
It brought a gloom as from the tomb
    On Lough Rynn's Wooded Shore.
    VII
This boy who lost his precious life
    Was scarcely nineteen years
His father came upon the scene
His eyes were filled with tears
I can ne'er forget that saddening sight
It makes my heart so sore.
When a father kissed his life less boy
    On Lough Rynn's Wooded Shore.
    VIII
    Many years have now elapsed
    In dreams I often see
The picture of that life - less boy
    And tears, tears, falling free
But I hope he is in heaven now
Where he'll view this lake no more
And for him I pray when er'e I stray.
