  2. The Big Wind

    The Big Wind occurred on the sixth of January 1839. The wind which occurred exactly a century ago did much destruction in this part.
    In the townland of Clooncarn, our house was situated on the top of a steep hill. The wind blew down the dwelling-house and outoffices and killed two cows.
