  1. (continued from previous page)
Farewell dearest Leitrim, the home of my boyhood,
The birth place of Ollamh's (Ollamhna) and chieftains of old:
Farewell to the green hills, the lakes, and the wild woods,
Of my sweet Co. Leitrim, my own native home!
How I long for the day when I'm homewards returning
never again to wander across the broad seas,
Till my friends lay me low in the graves of my fathers
In the old Abbey ruins 'neath the cluster of trees.
