This story relates to Thomas Darcy, Unshinagh (An Fhunnsineach) who was an active leader in the Fenian rising.

    (continued from previous page)
gone about 20 perches down the road he used to get the rifle, fire a shot, and leave it back in the trough. Then soldiers used to come back and search he house again, but they could find nothing.
When he died there was great sorrow among the people and the coffin was painted green. When the first of the people were entering the graveyard on the day of the funeral the last of them were only leaving the street at his own house 1 1/2 miles away.
A green wooden cross was put over his grave. This decayed and to our own disgrace it has not been replaced.
