When he sat down they started talking about the times. Jack said that he had not a bit to eat and that he was starving. The man said that he would give him a hundred pounds. Then the man disappeared. Jack wondered where he went to, Jack said that he would go to town to bring food for his children. He went away and when he arrived in town he went and bought food for his children. When he had the food bought he went into a public house and he did not come out of the house until he was blind drunk. He went the following day and he got blind(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
