   kind of bread they had for Christmas was barm-cake. It was made with flour and potatoes. They put barm in it to make it rise. The people ate a great many eggs Easter Sunday morning. They also ate porridge which was made with meal and hot water. The old people do not remember when tea first came.

   The food of the people long ago was not very different from what it at present, except that they had no potatoes and there was no tea. They used oats, wheat, rye, and barley ground and made into bread. Fish was used by those who could afford it, and also the flesh of various animals.
