  1. A long time ago St Patrick was coming along a little road to Aughagower and there was an old chief living in Cluain Da chon which is a village beside the village of Aughagower. When the chief saw St Patrick he let his two hounds after him. But St Patrick left his hands on the hounds backs and the hound let him pass.
