  1. On Christmas Eve candles are left lighted in the windows to welcome travellers or any persons looking for shelter during the night. Christmas is a time of feasting and rejoicing for both young and old.
Long ago the people used to give parties in all the neighbouring houses at Christmas and spend the night singing and dancing.
About a month before Christmas the mummers come round and collect money in all the houses. The dress in various colours and wear false faces. On coming into the house they say rhymes and sing and dance afterwards. Then when Christmas comes they give a dance or two in some house in the district.
