- There is a fairy fort in Glenleary. This fort is six yards high and a great many large stones are round it. People say that in olden times they fought here and a great many people were killed and buried at that spot. If you dig up the pound you will find the skeleton of a warrior's hand or head. A few years after this fairies were seen here among the bushes which grow there. These were covered with fairy lights at night. This place was always called the fort.
