Though Brosna is built on a hill, it is surrounded by hills. Some of the land is good and some only middling.
A river, called Clydagh, flows at the bottom of the village and enter the Feale about a mile from the village.
On the left bank of the river is a small oak wood called Carrigeen Wood the entrance to which is by a foot bridge across the river.
