  1. There was a man who lived about three miles from Taghmon long ago, and he got married. 'Twas fair day in Taghmon the day he was married. He brought some cattle in to the fair the same morning. As soon as he was married; when he came out on the street, he put his hand in his pocket and took out a key. "Here's the key for you Kate. When you go home feed the sow and boneens, and throw a grain of meal to the fowl. I'll be home after yez".

  2. In the domain of Johnstown Castle, near Murraintown there is a big rock called Harerock. Mass was said on that rock during the '98 Rising, but a priest on his keeping.
    There is a bridge near the place, and there's the sign of blood on the stones. It was said that some people were murdered there in the Rebellion times.
