    Year 1846. In the Arch Diocess - as then spelled - of Tuam there were 62 Parishes. His Grace the Most Rev Dr John McHale DD was Archbishop of Tuam.

    The Community of the Carmelite Convent of the town are - The Rev. William Fahey, Prior - Rev M. Gannon Rev P. O Reilly and Rev P O Loughlin.
