    The community of the Dominican Order at Esker, Athenry - V Rev Dr Smyth, Prior, Rev MJ Callagy and Rev M Fitzpatrick.
    In the Convent of the same Order at Boula, Portumna, the Community are -
    Rev Messrs Calahan and Coghlan.
    There is also in this Diocess a branch of the "Franciscan Order" at - Meelick, Eyrecourt, the community of which are - The Rev Messrs Fanning and Reynolds.
    Total Bishop 1: Parish Priests 21: Curates 19: other clergymen 10: Chapels 44: Convents 4: Nunnery 1.
    In the town of Tuam there is a Convent of the Presentation Order in which 300 female children a religious and gratuitous education. They are taught needle-work; some are apprenticed to trades, and many of the most destitute receive clothing
