    [look] for the other crock, not even waiting to eat their breakfast. They found a monster of a flag. Such a flag they never saw. At last after great toil they lifted it up. Under the flag was a great big crock. They were not able to stir it, it was so big.
    They did not want to tell anybody else because they thought that they would have to give him some of the gold. Ned tackled his pony to the crock, but the crock could not be got out. Then the ass and the pony were put to it and with great work they lifted the crock out of the ground. Ned gave the scholar £400 and he kept the rest for himself.
