- Nearly every farmer keeps a few animals, namely the horse, cow, sheep, donkey and goat. All these get special care and treatment during the Winter.
Sometimes the farmer keepts pets such as a fox, a pet rabbit, or a wild duck, but when the grow up the always forsake him and could not content themselves on the farm.
Often the farmer has names on the cows such as baine, breac Polly Brindle, Speckle, Ebony, Bess.
The horse is often called Barney, Charlue, Daisy, Brownie and Lawyer and other names.
The cowhouse is made with stones, and roofed with iron, and a branch is often hung over the cows head to keep the hens from frightening the cows.(continues on next page)- Collector
