    Emeralds and O'Neills
    On the 8th day of April,
    in the year seventeen,
    Twas Doohamlet's return
    from the Emeralds so green.
    For months they were boasting,
    on what they would do
    With the little Blackhills,
    on the grounds that they knew,
    When all things were settled,
    the O Neills won the toss.
    Said Neary, "We'll kick them
    right up to the Cross."
    "Take your time," said John Mulligan,
    "To the game it is done,"
    And then you will see,
    That the best men have won."

    The wind it was high,
    blowing fair from the West,
    The little Blackhills sure,
    They stood a hard test.
    But when half time was over,
    and the whistle had gone,
