  1. Local Cures
    Toothache is cured by rubbing a frogs paw to the side of the tooth which is affected.
    Warts are cured by rubbing them with a black snail. You must then hang it (the snail) on a white thorn bush.
    It is the custom around here to cure a sty bu pricking it with a goosberry thorn. This must be done by some person who does not remember having seen their parents.
    There are two old cures for whooping cough; one is to give ferrets milk; the other is to obtain a charity from two persons who had the same name before they were married.
