- Marriages frequently take place before the season of Lent and Advent. No one ever gets married during Lent or Advent. There are always runaway marriages on shrove Tuesday. The month of June is supposed to be a lucky month for Marriages and Wednesday is supposed to be the lucky day of the week. The local belief is that one who gets married in Lent lives long enough to repent.There are not too many matches made in this district. But when they want to make a match a couple go to the house of the girl and bring a bottle of whiskey to ask her of her father and to know what fortune he will be able to give(continues on next page)
