A suspect lay with the Priest-Hunters that the Priest might be sheltered in a particular house, and this place they set a spy on. One morning early, a light was seen in the house and soon the army surrounded it. An entrance was forced and at first, nothing could be found, but on closer examination, a box was noticed and opened. This box contained the Priest's Vestments, which were torn open and trampled under their feet.
The Priest arrived and a general clearance took place. He pursued them and finally Norman Steele went mad on his horse and continued his journey until he arrived at Moynalty House near Carrickmacross where he bled to death.
In punishment, he was left there till the day of Judgment, and though that residence has changed many Owners since that time, the Source of Annoyance is said to remain there.
