  1. In the townland of Callenberg, about two miles from the school, resided a Poet name John McEnaney, locally known as the "Bard of Callenberg."
As a lad he was wild and mischievous. He met with some accident and lost the use of his limbs. He was afterwards gifted with Verse which he rolled out out very freely in ridicule and otherwise.
He is over eighty years and is in the County Home, Castleblaney, Co. Monaghan.
His poems were few from the fact that having no means, they were never printed except an occasional one in Ballad Form.
If neighbours differed in the district, often one went to the "Bard" who composed some lines to help him "to air" his grievances.
I got my hands on an old song of his -
    "The Football of Inniskeen".
Oh God be with the happy days
    When Holy Mass was o'er.
At Vulcan's forge we all did meet
    And stood outside the door
To have a chat with Captain Pat
Who got his men in line
The day they met the Clones boys
    In green robed Donaghmoyne.
