The Pattern Fair - Feb 11th
If there was an quarrel or enmity between the people it was usual for the families concerned to collect a faction for the Pattern Day and a great fight took place. The weapons used were sticks.
There was a custom in the district that if two funerals took place on the same day the last funeral in to the churchyard would have to leave watchers until the next funeral arrived.
On one occasion a member of the Sullivan Beago (?) and a member of the Sullivan Mór died. The Sullivan Beago were small people and the Sullivan Mór were tall and in the race to the Churchyard the tall people won. The Sullivan Beago had to mind the churchyard. So there was a big fight between the families at the next pattern fair.
