- (continued from previous page)to the back of the church the new burial plot is to be seen. The present new graveyard was at one time a green plot with a wall between it and the old graveyard. In this plot stood the boys' and girls' school and it was called the playground. It was a grandfather to the present Mr. Hughes, Graignamanagh, who taught school in it. If you did a wrong act going to school then you would be punished severely by being put up on another person's back and beaten well with a stick. One day Mr. Hughes did so with his son, who got such a persecution, that he died that night.
When the school got old it fell, and the stones were taken away for other uses. In after years the wall between the old graveyard and the waste, was knocked, and there was a new graveyard made there. At one time when the abbey was in ruins(continues on next page)- Collector
