There was an old school in Coulagh long ago.

There was an old school in Coulagh long ago. The name of the teacher was Baitín Dubh. He was not left long teaching there because he was transferred to another school. Another teacher came in his place. His name was Justin MacCarthy. He was teaching for a long time in the old school in Urhan. It is now used as a cowhouse.
The kind of desks they used to have were made of stones and every morning when the pupils used to go to school they had to bring in a stone each of them to sit on it. They used not speak anything in it but Irish.
