  1. Long ago the people used to make stampy. At first they used to get a cocoa box and make it flat. Then they used to put holes in it with a nail. Out of black potatoes they used to make the stampy. They used to grate the potatoes with the grater. Then they used to put them into a cloth and bruise them to take the water out of them. They used to mix them with a fistful of flour in a dish and bake it in a griddle. They had a verse in Irish about the stampy.
