John Cronin, Matehy is renowned for being a great mower, but my father said that he has no method in the manner in which he cuts any crop, because he ribs every swath and leaves the best part after him. He is also a noted poet who wrote several songs, including "The Road to Donoghmore", "Dark Rosaleen", "The Hurlers of Sweet Donoghmore", and "Dear Old Vicarstown".
