    asked with whom had he been hunting, he said, "Me and me father and two more dogs". On another occasion when asked why he refused his food he said, "You should have the horse of a stomach to eat it", instead of "the stomach of a horse" to eat it. These, and other sayings of this man are used locally as "proverbs" when ever they can be used in conversation.
    There are many proverbs in this district, most of them do not apply locally but may be heard every-where The following are a few.
