    In the old houses there was only one room and a kitchen and therefore some of the people who used have a large family used keep the bed in the kitchen near the fire.
    It was called a settle bed.
    It was made of timber and it used be closed in daytime.
    Some of the people used have the fire at the gable wall and others used have it in the corner.
    It was of timber and scraws from the mountain they used make the fires.
    The chimney that was on the houses were made of wattles and of mud.
    The windows were very small and there was no glass in them only at night bags used be hung in from of them.
    For light they used bogdeal splinters. The candles were made of tallow. First the tallow was melted and put into a mould the shape of a candle.
