There is also another well in this district named "Abbey's Well", about six miles from Mallow. The people visit this well on the 11th of February. Near this well is a bush and when people visit it they leave medals, rags, statues, and rosary beads on the bush.
When the day comes for visiting the wells it is known locally as "pattern day". I presume that this is corrupt form of "Patron day".
There was a well in the mountain and the farmer who owned the land did not want the well in his land. He drained the well but it filled up again. He then covered up the well but it appeared in the mountain road.
One night as two men were going home from work a child appeared out of the well with a bucket of water in his hand. He threw the water at one of the men and the(continues on next page)- Informant
