- Grimeseekawn (Name as pronounced)This was a fairly popular dish among those who had their own supply of home grown wheat. It consisted of placing some wheat in water, and allowing it to boil slowly (simmer) during the night, and was served as breakfast with the addition of some new milk.
- The Banshee follows the local Sheehy family, the last occasion on which it is recorded as having been heard in the grounds of the old Castle was on the occasion of the death of one Harry Sheehy about 50 years ago.
