- There were some industries around the parish long ago. They usually made their own candles and soap and baskets. The candles were made of rushes and tallow. Baskets were made of rushes also. They had machines for spinning the wool, then they used dye the wool and make clothes out of it. They used to churn the cream and make it into butter. They do none of these things nowadays. They still burn lime and there is a lime kiln above in Eyon which belongs to Mrs Mulcahy.
