    About forty years ago, there lived a curate in Birr named Father Little. He had lived in Birr for many years, after which he was transferred to the Co. Clare and before leaving it he compose a song and it sang thus.
    Farewell to the town of Birr
    Farewell to one and all
    For here now I must leave you
    And obey Almighty's call.
    Although I go to the Six Mile Bridge in the Co Clare
    My heart and blessings are in Birr and amongst the people there.
    For many a year I have lived with you.
