Pat fell sick, and he sent for the priest,
That dying he might have his blessing at least.
To come with all speed he humbly implored him,

The good Father the summon quickly obeyed,
And found Pat, alas, in a terrible way
Fixed and wild were his looks
And his nose cold and blue
And his countenance had a churchyard-like hue
The good Father bid Pat confess all his crimes.
