- In the seventies, in my yong days, there was so many travelling folk, and some of them strange characters. It would take some time to write about them. There was one very tall man, that we as children dreaded very much for we were told his name was "Raw Head" and "Bloody Bones."He seemed to carry his bed on his back, and kettles, pans, and pints, were on a rope around his waste, and also a small bag for meal, and potatoes. Over all this collection he wore a brown blanket, or a quilt which made him look as big as a cock of hay. I really believed the poor man was very quite man, but we all dreaded him.
