  1. The local fairs are held in Fethard and Clonmel every month. Fethard fair is held on the street. There is a fair green, but the fair is never held there. There are two fairs in the year called "old fairs". At these fairs sixpence a head is charged on all cattle leaving the fair. The money is kept by the town commission.
    In Cloneem there is a field called the "green". It is situated in the village and at the back of the church and school. This field was the fair green long ago. It is about 130 years since the last fair was held there. Goats, sheep that were sold there. These fairs were attended by hawkers who sold enormous amounts of cheese. These fairs were discontinued because the village was too small, and far away from the railway station.
