- Long ago there were no doctors in the country so when the people got sick they had to cure themselves. They had a cure for every pain and disease. For a boil the cure was to put soap and sugar to it. or a poultice of linseed meal. For a person who would have warts, the cure was to steal a piece of meat and bury it under the dung, and according as the meat would be rotting the warts would be going.
