- There are fairy forts in my district. They are called moats and forts. There is one in the townland of Delvin. It is circular. It is not in view of any other fort. There is a wall of stones around it. There is no entrance hole in the centre of it. There is supposed to be a white cat seen around it every night. It is said that there is a crock of gold in it.
There is one also in Clonarney. It is circular. There is an entrance hole through the centre of it going to Clonarney churchyard. There was a man digging a sandpit on the top of the fort one day and he came to a hole in the middle of it. When he saw the hole he got afraid and he covered it in again.- Collector
