- There are potatoes on our farm. We usually sow an acre. We always sow the same amount Some years the crop is better that others. We sow the potatoes in drills. We make the drills with the plough. First we plough the field. Then we harrow it to break the lumps. Then we open the drills with the plough. Then we spread manure between them. When we are putting out the manure neighbours usually lend each other their horse and sometimes their cart. Before we put the potatoes down we have to cut them into scalps with an eye in each scalp. Then we put the scalps on top of the manure. We put each scalp one foot apart. Then(continues on next page)
