- The cowhouse is rather a large shed where there is a dairy. Nowadays the cowhouses are more up-to-date than in former times. It is usually long with a row of tyings on each side. Each cow is separated by a low wall. Thick stakes are put in the shed floor and to every stake a chain is attached. The chain is put round the cows neck and caught by a hook on the end of the chain. These tyings are home-made.
