  1. St Loman lived on an island on Loch Nuir, a lake situated about three miles from Mullingar. The Saint built a church on the island the ruins of which can be seen to the present day.
    The townland beside it is called Portloman after the Saint. There is also a place in Mullingar called Saint Loman's Terrace.
    I do not know of even one in Mullingar or Walshestown named Loman
