- The only stones of any historic interest in Walshestwon parish are those which are supposed to be erected over some warrior who fell in some battle long ago.
Five of those stand in a row about 10 yards apart in Willie Cassidy's land North East of Slanemore Hill and two more in Mr Quinns land (a) at Portloman.
On the Johnstown road about 300 yards from Clarks cross-roads there is a stone called the "Cobblers stone". The pecularity about it is that no matter how it was covered it would be stripped the following morning.- Collector
