- Long ago two giants met and they started an argument. They were disputing which of them were the strongest. They started to throw big rocks to see which of them could throw it the farthest. On of the giants got in a great fury and he lifted up a mighty rock of about three tons weight.
With all his might he threw it a distance of about (threw) three miles. They were having the contest at a place known as the "Captain's hill" beside Lough Owl lake and the rock landed in Mr Owen's field in Walshestown. There the(continues on next page)- Collector
